Ko Au (me, myself, I):
This term we are looking at the vocabulary needed to introduce our families. Here is the vocabulary list that you have glued into your books at school.

Here are some flash cards that you could print off to help you learn the reo. You can play games like snap (pako), bingo and go fish with these, as well as using them to create your own family tree.

Find a family photo and take turns talking about the different people.
For example:
For example:
Ko Jake tēnei. Ko ia taku tuakana.
This is Jake. He is my older brother. |
Ko Sarah tēnei. Ko ia taku tuahine.
This is Sarah. She is my younger sister. |
Ko Jill tēnei. Ko ia toku māmā.
This is Jill. She is my mum. |
Use taku if you are talking about siblings and cousins etc and toku of you are talking about someone who is your elder and who you look up to.
