Matarawa Showcase Planting:
Part One:
Naturally Native have sent us a list of natives they can sell us at discounted prices. The only trouble is they did not send us a total price. We will have to work out how much the total cost will be and then how much money we will have to raise.
Work out the total cost of each group of plants - Patete, Manuka, Mahoe, Harakeke, Kawakawa, Kowhai and Mountain Flax. Then combine the totals to see how much money we need altogether.
You may like to use play money to help you, or you could use numbers or draw it on the iPad. You will need to have evidence of your thinking and working within your maths book as well. Each price listed is for one plant, you will need to use repeated addition or multiplication to figure out the total cost of each kind of plant.

Part Two:
Below I have included information of the size and planting needs of each plant. Draw a rectangle in your maths book that shows an area of 30m x 10m (1 square of your book = 1m) and mark out where you would plant each plant and how many of each kind you think you would like to plant, remember that each plant needs a certain amount of space for it to grow healthy, you will need to plant them so fit their maximum growth size.

Part Three:
We will also need to cover the entire area in weed mat. Weed mat costs $2 per square meter. You will need to figure out the square meterage of the area in part 2 and then calculate the total cost.
Part Four:
How much money do we need to raise to cover all of our costs?
