Design Technology Cycle
Now you have gained some knowledge on how humans have travelled into space, you are ready to take on a TOP SECRET design challenge.
This week you are going through a Design Technology "Bootcamp" that means you are going to learn what process Engineers follow in order to design and create innovative inventions.
You are going to complete two challenges in a group of 3, after each challenge you are to reflect on how successful your design was and how your group collaborated together. Next week you will be following the Engineering Design process to come up with your own innovative invention to help "Martian" (setters on Mars) live in on Mars in the future.

Mars Mission
Technology Challenge #1. Balloon Car Challenge
Design considerations
Have you ever blown up a balloon and let it go? The air rapidly escapes the balloon making it fly away. Your challenge is to harness this energy to propel a car forward!
The balloon-powered car has three main parts: the body, the wheels, and the axles. The axles connect the wheels to the body and allow them to spin. Think about what materials you will use for each part and how they will connect together.

Reflect on how well you didIt's important to look back and honestly reflect on how well your group did on this challenge. That way you can keep improving for your next challenge!
Be honest but kind when you write your reflection, its OK if your car balloon didn't work out - the important question is WHY? |
